i mentioned earlier this week that i’ve taken the physique 57 august challenge and will be rewarding myself {upon completion of every single workout} with a cambridge satchel company metallic handbag. swoon.
so you know about the handbag, but you don’t know about the program. here’s the dirt.
for those of you who know me, you are well aware of the fact that i don’t really enjoy working out. i suffered through insanity and supreme 90 day – and completed both – over the last year, only to drop lbs, two sizes and still hate working out. my new workout comes from a whole different planet.
all of the programs i’ve completed are based on interval overload. but what’s so different about physique 57 is that there are no heismans, no burpees, no mountain climbers. sure, there’s pushups and weights, but it’s different. the program is a combo of ballet/barre method, pilates, yoga and strength training. all wrapped up into a fun program that gets you sweating, gets your heart rate up and builds long, lean muscle tone.
i’m well into week two of the challenge and my days are filled with 87 {on the toughest days}, 60, 57 or 30 minute workouts {a rotation/variation of the six dvds}. from bicep curls, seat work and thigh dancing to ab killers, it works every major muscle group {some with a playground ball} in your body. i’m exhausted after working out, but not in the same way that insanity would force me to drop on the floor, searching for my breath in a pool of sweat.
i won’t tell you that i actually look forward to working out everyday – my incentive does make it so much easier – but, {knock on wood} the workouts go by really quickly and i am motivated by the muscle tone i can already see.
only 21 more days and the bag {and perhaps a flatter stomach} is mine.
